SunRace was founded in Taiwan in 1972, initially providing entry-level products, particularly in North and South America. The boom in mountain bike sales led to rapid expansion. Twenty-five years later, it became clear that growth could only continue with higher-level components, and thus the process of upgrading the product range began.

This process accelerated after the acquisition of internal hub gear supplier Sturmey-Archer in 2000. Sturmey-Archer was founded in England in 1902 and invented the three-speed internal hub. The purchase of Sturmey-Archer allowed SunRace to establish a solid presence in Europe with its sales and distribution company in the Netherlands. Supplying the European market required even higher specifications, leading to significant investments in engineering and research and development.

Today, SunRace is specified by the world's largest bicycle manufacturers and is available globally in the aftermarket. SunRace has become the choice of cyclists looking for excellent value for money.
